There are six LED lit (a wonderful upgrade installed in 2018) courts which can be reserved either five days in advance (Voting Members) or three days in advance (Non-Voting members). We have an online reservation system; members also have the option to call in their reservation requests if they prefer. The five-day or three-day reservation "clock" begins each day at 8am. Use this handy chart to see how this works. Peak hours of play are, typically, Mon-Thurs: 9am-12pm, 5-9pm; Fri-Sun: 9am-1pm.
Weekends: 9am-7pm (Apr-Oct), 9am-6pm (Nov-Mar)
Courts are also available to members during daylight hours even when the clubhouse is closed. Access to courts is possible via combination locks on the gates to courts 2 & 6. Please contact the office for the combination.
Chabot has approximately 275 members. Members have access to the Club Roster (only logged members can access that page) which gives names, rating level and contact information. New members receive a free initial evaluation with one of our tennis pros. As part of the evaluation, you will be provided with the names of members who would be a good match for you. In addition, the club staff will be happy to suggest people who play at your level. Typically, once members start playing on teams and at social events including hot court, they quickly find a group of players at their level to play with.
Hot Court (currently suspended for winter hibernation*), offers free drop-in doubles for players at all levels. Hot Court is organized by a Club staff member and is a great way to meet other members and to play with people at different levels. It is free for active members. *Winter suspension of Hot Court continues until the spring when it will return with some changes in format to attract more players from different playing levels.
The Club has three tennis pros who offer lessons. Clinics are pre-arranged by each Club Pro independently. Rates for these clinics vary, depending on the number of participants and on the Pro. Clinics can also be arranged by club members with a pro for a group of participants they find on their own. Visit our MEET OUR PROS page and LESSONS page for more info.
Yes, there is a ball machine that is available to members free of charge. It is avaiiable Weekdays 12-5pm, Weekends 12pm-Closing. Same-day, call-in requests for the machine during peak hours will be considered on a case by case basis, depending on how crowded the courts are that day. Learn more about the Ball Machine.
Chabot has a wide variety of leagues sponsored by USTA and BALL (Bay Area Ladies League) at levels ranging from 3.0-4.5. Adult Leagues are usually formed in teams and can include both singles and doubles. The new, increasingly popular Flex-League, sponsored by USTA, allows individuals to compete on their own in matches they schedule themselves. There are nominal fees involved in league play.
Chabot sponsors a range of social events and tennis-related mixers including inter-club round robins with other regional tennis clubs, holiday barbeques and potlucks with round robin tennis, an Annual Club Championship Tournament and an annual December Holiday Party.
Members can bring guests to play tennis during club hours. Voting members are allowed to bring one guest per month free-of-charge. After that, and for non-voting members, there is a fee of $15 per visit. Fridays after 1pm guests are free. An individual guest may visit Chabot a maximum of 2 times per month.
